Learn to warp up a multi-shaft table loom – 2 DAY WORKSHOP
Over 2 days in this purpose-built space you will learn all the basics for warping up a 4-shaft table loom, under the guidance of weaver and textile designer Angie Parker.
The workshop will cover:
- Designing and winding a warp
- Using a raddle to space your warp
- Winding the warp onto the back beam with even tension (one and two-person methods)
- Threading the heddles for plain weave and twill.
- Sleying the reed
- Tying on and starting to weave
You must bring a notebook, but all equipment and materials are included in the cost.
The sessions will begin at 10:30 a.m. and end at 5:00 p.m. on day one, with tea breaks in the morning and afternoon and a lunch break. Day two will begin at 10:00 a.m. and finish at 4.30 p.m.
Participants will receive an email to discuss colour choices for their warp and weft before the workshop. Any concerns about parking and local food options can be sorted out then, too.
A simple lunch is included in the workshop price. Unlimited tea, coffee, and biscuits are provided and the sessions are fun, informal and friendly.
IMPORTANT. The workshop involves some standing and repeated actions. Those who suffer from lower back pain might experience some discomfort. Seating is available and taking regular breaks is recommended.
