The Social Skills Agency – a not-for-profit organisation based in Bristol – offers social skills learning programmes for children and young people (10-25 years old), who struggle with social communication – the introverted, the anxious, the lonely, the bullied and the over-enthusiastic. They specialise in supporting children and young people with Asperger’s Syndrome / autism.
They understand that people will seek their support in different ways at different times in their lives. Their team often support children, young people and their families through the following services:
- Social Skills learning through individual or group sessions
- Parent Support Strategies
- Classroom and Inclusion Strategies
At the Social Skills Agency, programmes are tailored to the individual needs of the participants. Social skills learnt in the groups may include:
- Play and conversation skills – turn taking, greeting peers, sharing, and understanding multiple perspectives
- Teamwork – negotiation and compromising
- Understanding friendships
- Accepting yourself – self-esteem and resilience
A drama/creative club for 10 to 18 year olds is held at the farm every other Saturday from 11am to 1pm during term time.
