Intro to Willow Weaving

During the session you will learn all about the traditional craft of willow weaving; the varieties of willow, the tools of the trade and the skills to take your forward to start weaving more advanced baskets. We will spend the workshop making willow hoops, and weave a stick and strand style tray/trivet, which can be used and loved.

About Florence Hamer:

Flo is a traditional craftswoman specialising in basketry and green woodworking. All her work is linked with a love of working with wood, in traditional techniques, and the desire to keep these endangered skills alive. Flo teaches a range of courses in traditional crafts, as well as being a full time maker. Working in materials such as willow, hazel, ash and oak. Winner of best Contemporary Basket 2023 in the ‘Basketry of the Year’ competition held by the Basketmakers Association. And shortlisted maker in the ‘Bespoke Product Design’ category in the 2023 ‘Wood Awards’.
