Level 2 Pottery Handbuilding

Embark on a unique and personalised pottery journey with our 6-week pottery course in our cosy clay filled studio in Bedminster at Windmill Hill City Farm. Each week you will concentrate on creating a particular ceramic homeware item to enhance your skills and understanding in hand-built pottery.

 

Week 1: Tuesday 4th February @ 6.15pm-8.45pm – Recap of foundational hand building techniques, pottery practice and project planning.

 

Week 2: Tuesday 11th February @ 6.15pm-8.45pm – Advanced Slab Construction. 

Develop more complex slab-built forms using different templates, focusing on construction methods for large forms and attachments.

 

Week 3: Tuesday 18th February@ 6.15pm-8.45pm – Coiling Techniques & Building Tall Forms. 

Master coil-building for larger and more intricate forms. Advanced coiling methods for creating tall, balanced forms. Consistent in height and thickness.

 

Week 4: Tuesday 25th February @ 6.15pm-8.45pm –  Combining hand building techniques to create functional or sculptural objects. Combining pinching, coiling, and slab methods to create complex multi-piece construction.

 

Week 5: Tuesday 4th March @6.15pm-8.45pm – Self directed practice and finishing touches. 

 

*One week pause to allow time for all pottery to be bisque fired*

 

Week 6: Tuesday 18th March @ 6.15pm-8.45pm – Glazing. 

Your bespoke body of work will then be fired and ready to be collected 2-4 weeks later.

In between session, you are invited to practice your skills at our Friday night open access sessions. Tickets are £20 and include all clay- the outcomes can be perfected in course time.
