"It's a great moment to pause to recognise the history and achievements of all the people who've loved this place. The farm was born of volunteer action and volunteers remain at its heart. Staff, volunteers, community members and supporters have all added to our bounty – they've loved, toiled, supported, donated, championed and challenged this place. We thank them all.
Fifty years on is a fitting moment to celebrate the ability of committed individuals to make change in their world. While in part it's about looking back, it's also about how we shape our future. The farm has brought joy to people's lives through learning, wellbeing, recreation, food, farming and the environment. With your support, encouragement and involvement, we'll keep doing that for years to come.
A community event in September 1976 was enjoyed by hundreds of local people, and the city farm dream of a few became a reality for our neighbourhood. Fifty years later, on 12th September 2026, we'll celebrate in style. It's going to be a great party, so do get your tickets now and join us in making a fuss about it."
