The truth is simple:
Before we can continue helping people to grow, we must care for the space that makes this growth possible.
As we reach our 50th year, the Farm is looking well-loved. The wear of thousands of footsteps, the strain of ageing buildings, and the growing needs of the community we serve. This isn’t happening in isolation. Across the UK, community spaces are disappearing - either closing down or unable to keep up with rising costs. Places that once held families, friendships and everyday moments of connection are becoming fewer each year.
In the backdrop of a cost‑of‑living crisis, families are feeling the strain of a world that feels more difficult and more expensive. Free, safe, local green spaces; the kind where children can run, explore and learn without barriers, are becoming rarer. Spaces where people can gather without spending money are becoming precious. Windmill Hill City Farm has always been one of those rare places. A place where the gates are open, the welcome is warm and nature is freely shared. To keep the farm free, safe and thriving, we must invest in the essential improvements, repairs and running costs that underpin everything we do to serve the needs of our community.
We want to protect this space. Not just for today’s families, but for the generations who will follow. That’s why we’re asking our community to help us raise: £50,000
A symbolic and practical target. A harvest that will help secure the next season of our shared story.
