With the Bristol school summer holidays running from Thursday, 23 July 2026 until Monday, 31 August 2026, there's no better place to enjoy a summer of hands-on fun. Whether your child loves animals, arts and crafts, cooking, theatre or sport, there's something for everyone.

This year is extra special as Windmill Hill City Farm celebrates 50 years of growing with the community. Throughout the summer holidays, families can enjoy a packed programme of activities designed to inspire creativity, encourage confidence and connect children with nature.

HERE'S WHAT'S COMING UP THIS SUMMER:

A fantastic opportunity for girls to build confidence, stay active and make new friends. Combining football skills with relaxing yoga sessions, these classes encourage movement, teamwork and wellbeing in a fun, supportive environment. Perfect for energetic children looking to try something different this summer.

Step into an enchanting woodland world with Mr Brown's Pig: The Woodland Puppet Show at The Garden Theatre. Expect imaginative storytelling, charming woodland creatures and plenty of laughs for younger audiences. Bring a picnic blanket and enjoy outdoor theatre surrounded by nature.

Get hands-on with a traditional countryside craft and create your own willow masterpiece. This relaxing workshop introduces children and adults to the art of willow weaving using natural materials. A wonderful way to encourage creativity while learning a new skill.

A communal session for the whole family! Unlike our regular communal sessions, children and young people under 16 are welcome when accompanied by a responsible adult (18+). It's a unique opportunity to relax, reconnect and enjoy mindful time together.

Designed especially for younger children and their grown-ups, this playful session includes sensory activities, exploration and opportunities to meet other local families. Ideal for babies, toddlers and preschoolers.

Discover the fascinating world of moths with this family-friendly wildlife event. Learn about the incredible species living right here at the farm and see what has been captured overnight before they're safely released. Perfect for budding nature lovers and curious young explorers.

Scribble and Sketch together with a free family art session inspired by the natural surroundings of the farm. Children can experiment with different materials, create their own masterpieces and let their imaginations run wild.

One of Britain's most-loved children's stories comes to life in our beautiful Garden Theatre. Join Mole, Ratty, Badger and the unforgettable Mr Toad for an outdoor theatrical adventure that's perfect for the whole family.

Join Glazed & Confused for pottery painting on our Barn Terrace this summer. Book a two-hour session, choose your favourite piece of pottery, and let your creativity flow. The perfect family activity!

Beatrix Potter's mischievous rabbit hops onto the Garden Theatre stage in this delightful outdoor production. Expect plenty of laughter, adventure and classic storytelling in a magical farm setting.

Spend quality time together while stretching, moving and relaxing. These gentle yoga sessions help children build confidence and body awareness while giving parents a chance to slow down and reconnect.

Set sail for an exciting outdoor adventure packed with pirates, hidden treasure and swashbuckling fun. A brilliant introduction to classic theatre for older children and adventurous families.

Become a Junior Farmer this summer. Children can meet the animals, help with farm jobs, discover where food comes from and experience life on a real working city farm.
