A difficult week
at windmill hill city farm

30th june 2026

This week began with some deeply upsetting news for everyone at Windmill Hill City Farm.

When staff arrived on Monday morning, we discovered that our reception area had been vandalised. A window had been broken and our lamb donation box had been stolen. Sadly, this is not an isolated incident. It marks the third break-in we have experienced this year, and we're only halfway through the year!

For a small charity like ours, incidents like these have a significant impact. While the contents of the donation box are emptied daily, the break-in has still cost us hundreds of pounds in repairs and labour. Beyond the financial cost, it affects the people who care for this place every day. Our staff, volunteers and supporters work incredibly hard to create a welcoming, safe and inclusive space for the community, so it is disheartening to see the farm targeted in this way.

Despite this setback, our commitment to the farm and the community remains as strong as ever.

Every day, Windmill Hill City Farm provides opportunities for people to connect with nature, learn new skills, care for animals, grow food and build friendships. We are determined to continue protecting this special place and ensuring it remains open and accessible for everyone who relies on it.

That's why we are asking for your support!

Just three weeks ago, we launched our Golden Harvest Appeal, a campaign to raise £50,000 to help secure the farm's future for the next 50 years. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we had already reached 23% of our target. However, this latest incident has created additional costs at a time when every penny matters.

The funds raised through the Golden Harvest Appeal will help us care for our animals and gardens, support local people and families, maintain our facilities, and preserve this valuable green space for future generations.

If you would like to help us get back on track, please consider donating to the Golden Harvest Appeal. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a real difference. If you're unable to donate, sharing our appeal with friends, family and colleagues is another powerful way to support us.

Together, we can overcome setbacks like this and ensure that Windmill Hill City Farm continues to thrive for many years to come.

Thank you for standing with us.
