introducing The Advice Lounge

13th april 2026

Windmill Hill City Farm are delighted to announce that this spring, we will be opening The Advice Lounge.

The Advice Lounge is a safe, comfortable area where people can come free of charge and speak to experts about issues that may be worrying them. It’s dedicated to providing our local community with a wide range of information including social issues like housing or debt advice, personal challenges around mental health or ageing, as well as cross-cutting issues like the environment and local services.

The Advice Lounge will have a rolling programme of advisors who can answer questions and advise people who drop in.

In between active sessions, the space will provide information and direct people to sources of information.

Steve Sayers, Chief Executive, says:

“Since we floated the idea the interest has been fantastic. We have a strong list of partners who want to use the space for their outreach work including Age UK Bristol, Housing Matters and the Centre for Sustainable Energy. We think this is going to be a well-used and needed resource for people in our neighbourhood.”

Age UK are the first to use The Advice Lounge service. Ben Sansum, who manages Age UK Bristol's outreach service, says:

‘We had a great day meeting people with some quite complex support needs that we just couldn’t have managed over the phone. The only other option would have been a home visit, and we don’t have the resources to be able to do that for everyone. This space is a great way of getting advice to those people who need it.”

How Does it Work?

Do you give advice in Bristol and want to use The Advice Lounge? Here's how it works.

The Advice Lounge is a free space within the farm. If you or your organisation has advice to give that will benefit our community, you can apply to use this space completely free of charge.

To apply, get in touch with Holly.jefferies@windmillhillcityfarm.org.uk and let us know which organisation you are contacting us from and the nature of the advice you would like to give.

Please note; we provide the space and the rest is up to you. That means you will be responsible for promoting and funding your sessions. Unfortunately, Windmill Hill City Farm does not have the resources to support every Advice Lounge partner with promotion or funding.

If you have any other questions don't hesitate to get in touch.
